Reiki on animals

Reiki on animals

I’ve been here since morning, in front of the computer, looking to find articles that talk about the effect of Reiki on animals so that I can share them with you. And then I realize that I don’t need them, because I have my own experiences to write about. I’ve been doing Reiki for about 20 years, and that mainly on myself and on animals that I take care of. All these years I’ve also been working with strays and many times my only help was Reiki. During all these years, many things happened but  three typical examples of animal reactions and responses to Reiki come to mind. If I think about it more, I’m sure I’ll find others, but these are the most typical for me.

Returning home

When I had my 2nd degree initiation, I was staying in Avlida but the initiation was in Athens and lasted for a whole weekend but because I had animals at home I couldn’t stay overnight. So returning Sunday night after a tiring weekend, my mind started questioning all this effort and not believing that there is any sense in all this . You know, once the mind starts questioning, it never stops.

Asking universe for a sign

Then I asked the universe for a sign that all of this makes sense and that it works. It was a winter night. I arrived home at 9pm to see through the gate one of my dogs lying down, motionless. I got panicked. I went near and saw a big tear on his thigh. He was nailed to a railing and was torn deep and he couldn’t move. At that moment, all I can do is Reiki. For half an hour I did what I had just learned. The dog managed to get up, went to his house and the next day to the doctor.

I must say that I did not replace the doctor, but I certainly helped the dog in his great need and after that his recovery was faster with the help of Reiki.

And one more thing……Let’s be careful what we ask for and how we ask it from God, or the universe, or whichever higher power each of us believes in.

Little bird

After this incident, I don’t remember how long later, I was going to a bookstore. There was a little bird on the road, a sparrow, and before it could get up and fly away, the car in front of it hit it. The little bird was as if dead, I got down, took it in my hands and saw that its heart was beating. I picked it up and with the little bird in my hands and doing Reiki I entered the bookstore.

The girl inside the bookstore and I started chatting and suddenly I feel movement in my hands. I open them and the bird was alive and even flew away. We ended up chasing it inside the store to get it out. It was such a happy ending….

Puppies with parvo

Two stray puppies with parvo, in a neighborhood nearby. A friend who had a similar incident last year told me that if they manage to survive, it will take at least 20 days for them to recover but the chances are not good. Very few animals survive. One veterinarian said that without hospitalization and IV nothing can be done.

But we decided to try…..

We couldn’t take them to a clinic for IV because was too expensive. So with guidance from a vet, antibiotics and some other medications, we started the effort together with some friends. One of the two was dying, frozen and motionless.

The only help I could give again, besides the medications, was Reiki. The weather was not helping, too much cold so it was even more difficult. Whenever I had time I did Reiki. The fact that you can do it from a distance helped me a lot because I did it at night too. After a difficult period of 4 or 5 days the puppies came back. Again it wasn’t just Reiki, but it greatly accelerated their recovery time.

And the most interesting thing for me is that when I went to the house where they were being looked after, in the garden, my friend would tell me about the one who was dying, Lazarus as we called him: “When he sees you, he acts like he’s crazy with joy.”

Why I believe Reiki works on animals

One of our differences with animals is logical thinking and our mind in general. This, besides being a great gift, can also become a great obstacle in some situations.

Animals don’t have such a filter, animals simply feel energies and either they like it or they don’t. Usually cats leave faster but even them, if they are sick they enjoy it. Also animals are simpler in terms of behavior. More straight. And maybe this again has to do with the mind. However, in them the energy goes without filters and works very well and quickly, because they simply don’t think about it.

I’m not sure if the emotion of the person giving the Reiki treatment, plays a role in its effectiveness. That is, if the more the person cares, the more effective the reiki is. My teachers tell me not to, but I’m not sure.

The science of Reiki. Understanding the Biofields

The science of Reiki. Understanding the Biofields

The use of Reiki as a complementary or alternative treatment for a wide range of health issues has been on the rise. As interest in this form of healing grows taking a look at the science behind it can help you understand it better. You might wonder how energy healing takes place in reiki or what this type of healing even means. Certain energetic principles play important roles in Reiki, which haw given scientists a way  to study this healing technique.

An overview of how Reiki works.

Reiki techniques involve placing hands lightly on an individual’s clothed body or holding them just above the body and moving them around while channeling energy. This helps live energy within the body flow through pathways called meridians in order to ease  stress and support the body’s natural ability to heal. Reiki involves working with the biofield, which refers to energy fields surrounding living organisms.

Exploring the Biofield

The use of biofield therapies has increased in recent years as part of treatment approaches for cancer and other illnesses. Reiki is among these biofield therapies, since it involves working with these fields. Biofields are interacting energy fields that are found around living beings. This energy also permeates living organisms as it moves around. Biofields are thought to have effects on the body, which has led to their therapeutic use in Reiki and other therapies.

Interactions between the magnetic fields or biofields of Reiki practitioners and those undergoing this kind of treatment offer a possible explanation of how this technique works.

A 2015 review published in Global Advances in Health and Medicine found that biofield therapies, including Reiki, were effective at easing pain. This review also found that biofield therapies helped reduce certain symptoms in cancer patients, such as fatigue, pain and anxiety. Other findings include potential efficacy for easing symptoms of other conditions, such as osteoarthritis, cardiovascular disease and dementia.

Understanding energy meridians

What exactly are they? Meridians are pathways or channels in the body that allow energy to flow through. Reiki techniques involve helping energy move through these channels to promote healing and provide other benefits.

What does science have to say about the existence of energy meridians? A 2019 study published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine found some evidence of meridians existing in the extracellular matrix and connective tissue of the body.

A 2013 review published in Medical Acupuncture also found evidence that connective tissue might play a role in the existence of energy meridians.

Examining the placebo effect in Reiki research

Research has shown that Reiki has better results than placebos when used as complementary therapy. The findings of a 2017 review published in eCAM established that the majority of studies done on Reiki support the claim that it offers an effective form of treatment compared to placebo. Reiki was found to perform better than placebo, giving it a strong potential for use in complementary health therapy for chronic health conditions. this energy healing technique was linked to parasympathetic nervous system activation that promotes mind and body healing.

The 2015 review of biofield therapies cited earlies also found that these therapies improve outcomes in a way that goes beyond the placebo effect. In fact the review shows support that biofield therapies, such as Reiki, might make use of the unconscious and conscious mind’s desired and expected outcomes to produce enhanced results. These results are stronger than those achieved with the placebo effect.

While more studies are needed to gain a deeper scientific understanding of Reiki, current research has shown its efficacy. From easing depression and anxiety to managing chronic pain, this energy healing practice has been linked to improved physical, mental and emotional well-being.
